Geological Properties

Prehnite has a hardness of 6 on the Mohs scale, Prehnite forms in the veins of cavities of volcanic rock, often basalts but can also occur in granites, marble or calcsilicate metamorphic rocks.

prehnite is an inosilicate of calcium and aluminium with the formula Ca2Al(AlSi3O10)(OH)2

Schorl is more commonly known as Black Tourmaline and is one of the most beautiful aesthetic black minerals known. It forms in the shape of tiny dense needles and is mostly submetallic.

Schorl commonly is known to form in granites, diorites, gabbro-pegmatites, and quartz veins.

Schorl has a hardness of 7 on the MoHs hardness scale and is in the Tourmaline mineral group.
